Buddy's road to recovery
I would like to introduce you to the newest member of Friends of K-9 Rescue. His name is Buddy, a Pittie who we believe to be about 4 years old. He was found wandering on the side of a rural road by Marci and her niece, Lindy, on March 24. He was near death, being nothing but skin and bones. Marci and her family took Buddy into their loving home and cared for him, helping him to gain 12 pounds in two weeks and brought life back into his broken and beaten body. He still has a skin infection and scars from his past life, deep markings where he a heavy chain hung around his neck. He needs his shots and will see the veterinarian in the next few days to get started on his long road to recovery. With Marci's father just having complications from a craniotomy, she didn't feel that she was able to give Buddy the constant care he would need to fully recover. She reached out for help, looking to find a new home for him. A facebook friend, Kathryn, immediately offered to take Buddy into her home. A week later, Buddy joined their family; however, it became apparent right away that Buddy does not like kitties too much. Kathryn was brokenhearted but decided she had to find a new home for him. Knowing that we were involved in helping Marci nurse Buddy back to health, she called us in the hopes that we could take him into our care. Without a moment of hesitation, we said yes. Kathryn brought him to us tonight, April 4, 2011 .We are so glad to have Buddy. He is so sweet and so loving. He has a long journey ahead of him to total recovery but we are dedicated to helping him get well and find his furever home. The pictures below show him as he was when he was first found and how he has progressed to date. I will update his progress as often as I can and continue to post pictures. I would like to thank Marci, Lindy and Kathryn for letting us be a part of Buddy's recovery and promise he will get all the love he can handle! Through Buddy's soulful eyes and loving demeanor, he shows the appreciation and love he has for those who have given him his second chance at life!
